Residential Fire Extinguisher

A portable fire extinguisher can save lives and property by putting out a small fire or containing it until the fire department arrives; but portable extinguishers have limitations. Because fire grows and spreads so rapidly
For the home, select a residential fire extinguisher (can be used on all types of home fires) that is large enough to put out a small fire, but not so heavy as to be difficult to handle.

When to use fire extinguishers?
It’s important to remember that fire extinguishers are only one element of a complete fire survival plan. Only use your extinguisher after making sure:
All residents of the home have been evacuated to safety
The fire department has been notified
There is a clear exit behind the person using the extinguisher

Use your extinguisher only to keep a small self-contained fire from growing, only when the room is not filled with smoke, or to create a safe pathway out of the home. Be sure to read the instructions and become familiar with your fire extinguisher's parts and operation before a fire breaks out.

Use of fire extinguisher
  1. Hold the fire extinguisher.
  2. Pull the pin, holding the extinguisher upright.
  3. Aim at the base of the fire.
  4. Squeeze the handle.
  5. Sweep the nozzle from side to side.
※Note: After you put of the fire, you should use some water to lower the temperature and keep your eye on it to make sure there is unextinguished fire
